MUSEUM OF TURKISH AND ISLAMIC ART

The dark stone building that houses the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art was built in 1524 by Ibrahim Pa?a, Grand Vizier to Süleyman the Magnificent, as his residence. It was the grandest private residence ever built in the Ottomon Empire. Today, it houses a superb collection of ceramics, metalwork, miniatures, calligraphy, textiles, and woodwork as well as some of the oldest carpest in the world.

Located in Ibrahim Pasa Palace, the palace contains a famous collection of carpets, sculpture, ceramics and metalwork: a collection of over 40.000 items. On the ground floor, an ethnographic section focuses on the lifestyles of different Turkish people.
